Range: N. Africa, Europe, Asia, Japan. Introduced to N America and Australia.
Flight Period: Polyvoltine. Early March/November. Migratory.
Habitat: Diverse. Most habitat types containing Larval Host Plants (LHP).
Larval host plant: Brassicaccae, Capparis spinosa (Capparacceae), Tropaeolaceae, Resedaccae, Chenopodiaccea. A frequent pest cultivated Brassicaccae. Ova laid singly on leaves. Larvae green with dense white hairs. Larvae are often attacked by the parasite Apanteles spp (Hymenoptera). Hibernates as a pupa, often on walls and fences.
