This is one of my favourite shooting modes on the E3 which usually produces very good results. The E5 has not disappointed me, with the greater headroom on ISO settings/sharpness, it has proven to be a great improvement. The settings I used for this are as follows.
ISO to give a high enough shutter speed to freeze wing movement. Aperture priority. C-AF. Sequential shooting L or H to suit your needs (I find L sufficient to keep the frame count down and avoid too many images which are similar). Switch IS OFF (You will not need it anyway as the shutter speed should be high enough).
In the 'Custom Menu A'/AF MF/AF Area select the third option 5 target centre (cross).Be sure to make this adjustment too:- 'Custom Menu A'/AF MF/C-AF Lock ON (this ensures that the lock does not change to rapid changes in focal distance).
Shooting method is a half press on the shutter to lock on the target then fully press and hold the shutter button whilst tracking the target. Easy.
If you click on an image you will open a larger size image in another window.
