Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo)

Gannets, Cormorants and Pelicans (Pelecaniformes) > Cormorants (Phalacrocoracidae) > Cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo)

Widespread on both fresh water or sea, They can often be seen in their characteristic perched pose with wings outstretched. In the water, most of their body is submerged. They catch fish in a long dive and bring their bigger catch to the surface to eat.

The Cormorant rose from a dive, did not pause at the surface, but immediately took off.  This is a snap shot at the wrong ISO (100) resulting in too slow a shutter speed (1/250s). Despite this, I thought I would keep it.
