Adonis Blue (Lysandra bellargus)

Range: Europe, Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Caucasus, Transcaucasus. Flight Period: Bivoltine. Mid May/June and Late July/Mid September. Habitat: Generally dry grassy places, often amongst scrub on calcareous soils. Larval host plant: Hyppocrepis comosa, Coronilla varia. Ova laid on leaves. Hibernates as small larvae. Larvae attended by Lasius alienus, L niger, Plagiolepsis pygmaea, Myrmica sabuleti, M scabrinodis, Tapincma erraticum. Often pupates under a stone or amongst leaf litter/moss at an entrance to an ant's nest.
