This is part of the ancient forest of Bere which stretched from Sussex through to Winchester. These woods are on the outskirts of the town of Denmead.

This moth is a little early this year being seen on the clearing under the pylons at Creech Woods on Apil 27th. The prolonged period of warm sunny weather we have had is likely to have caused this.
