  • Sunbeams over Portsmouth<br /> Taken from Southmoor, looking across the harbour at Portsmouth. The sunbeams are actually coming down in Portsmouth Harbour (the other side of Portsmouth). This has created a silhoette effect. The hills behind and to the left are on the Isle of Wight.
  • Langstone Harbour towards Farlington Marshes<br /> This shot was taken from Southmoor. Southmoor is a SSSI site and Farlington Marshes (at the North end of Langstone Harbour) is a RSPB site.

  • Grand central HST set (43084 leading) on diversion through Milford junction.<br /> The train is seen here using the ladder junction to switch to the Sheffield line from the York line. The pair of tracks it is leaving are freight only from this point.
  • Milford Junction Track layout (North)<br /> The pair of lines on the left lead to York. The other pair of lines on the right lead to Selby. The bridge in the distance, behind the signals showing a red aspect, carries the Leeds - Selby lines. The pair of lines on the right join these. Behind the signal box on the left is a lay-by siding leading into the engineers siding where Wagon maintainance is carried out. The sidings in the centre of the image are used to store coal trains awaiting loading or despatch. A number of locomotives are usually seen here attached to their trains. Today, these are usually Class 66.
