A very popular plant which has a distinct scent. This plant is used in the production of fragrances and perfume. It is also a medicinal plant in India to treat sore throats and tonsilitus. The French make syrup from extract of this plant which is used in cake making. The plants are low growing and spread outwards by runners. The flowers can be either deep purple or, as in this case, white.
