The two lines on the left are part of the National Network. They are connected to the single line section just beyond the signals. Behind the fence and to the right is the Head Shunt and sidings belonging to the Mid Hants Railway.

This train is waiting in platform 1 as the next service to London (Waterloo).<br />
The buffer stops for this platform road can be seen behind the train.

Network Rail Platform 1 line to the right with buffer stop and Network Rail Platform 2 line to the left which extends on to the Mid Hants Railway though the gate. The signal FN 104 (at the end of Platform 2) protects this connection.

Closer view of the rail connection. Extensive re-signalling work has been carried out in the station area on the Mid hants Railway. This work was to allow trains to run off the Network Rail tracks by integrating the signalling. The signal box is owned by the Mid Hants Railway and a ground frame controlling the pointwork can be seen in front and to the right of the signal box.

The green building on the left is the re-built carriage and paint shop. The track (left foreground) is the link track for the workshop area and the start of the long storage siding. The right hand track is the main running line to/from Medstead & Four Marks. The large green building in the distance is the loco shed, the brick built building to its right is the wheel drop with the station platforms alongside.

Entrance to the building from the loco yard. The building is still being re-built following the disastrous fire last year. I was told it may be brought into use by the end of February.

The engine shed is the green building on the left and the wheel drop is housed in the brick built building on the right. 31806 Class U locomotive is in pristine condition having been through the works. It is in light steam following a boiler check yesterday. A formal boiler inspection is to take place tomorrow.
