  • 11 Jun 2011. War on the Line. The steam traction engine was still in widespread use on farms and construction work such as road building. Several engines were working on display in the station car parks. This was one of two at Medstead and Four Marks. Copyright Peter Drury 2011

Yet another Austin of the time but, in this case, without the regulation black-out headlamps and white mudguard marker lines.  Copyright Peter Drury 2011

Note the black-out covers on the vehicles and the white painted mudguard edges. It certainly leaves little to the imagination about the difficulties driving and for pedestrians at the time.
