Agelena labyrinthica
Spiders (Aranea) > Orb-Web-Spiders (Araneidae) > Agelena labyrinthica
A sheet web spider that creates its web close to the ground over low vegetation. The web is connected to a tubular retreat in which the spider awaits its prey. The web itself is not sticky but is a mesh of trip wires which tell the spider when an insect is present. Small insects have great difficulty escaping from the web strands.1 / 3
